Twenty More (A child’s sense of time, Counting technique, Humor)

Tending to her hair before bed to make sure it stays healthy

Her – “Daddy, are we done yet?”

Me – “No.”

Her – “But I counted to one hundred.”

I chuckled hearing that she had been doing that silently

Me – “Just count twenty more.”

The old “count twenty more” technique. How many times I’ve used that with her to help us get through situations.

Her – “But that’s a long time.”

Me – “No, it isn’t.”

Her – “To a child it is.”

Comments like that where a child reminds an adult about a child’s world always catch me off guard. But I continued on until it was done.
