She returned on Sunday morning from being on a visit for a few days. I had prepared for her some friends, a treasure hunt and pancakes. We all then headed to the beach. After several hours in the ocean, as we drove home, she leaned back next to one of her friends and said, “Ahhh, this is such a good day.”
In the evening, after our full and relaxing day, she said, “I’m happy I’m home.”
I asked why.
She said she didn’t know, which sort of made sense. Home is a feeling. Then she added, “I just love you.”
Off to sleep she drifted, a happy, snuggling camper, especially knowing that Circus Camp would start the following morning – her first and only camp this summer.
It was a good day, indeed. When a day goes well as a parent, you savor it. When it goes off course, you just try to get back to days like these.
